The lesson also explores the three main macronutrients – carbohydrates, fats, and proteins – discussing their importance in athletic fueling and explains the differences between glucose, glycogen, and glycemic index. Furthermore, the lesson introduces the ATP system, discussing the roles of aerobic and anaerobic energy production in athletic performance. Finally, the lesson concludes with a class review, providing a comprehensive overview of the key concepts covered

In this lesson, we will explore what we know about nutrient timings with open ended discussions. We will also discuss the benefits of nutrient timings and why we eat food, including the concept of the Garbage Disposal Theory. We will then delve into pre-exercise fueling windows of opportunity, what to eat during sports and exercise, and how to prevent feeling underfueled. Additionally, we will cover post-workout nutrition and review the key takeaways from the lesson.

This lesson emphasizes the importance of staying hydrated and explores the signs of dehydration,  We will learn how humans lose water and what happens to the body during dehydration, which can have significant effects on athletic performance. 

In this lesson, we will debunk common sports nutrition myths and explore the concept of ergogenic aids, which can aid performance in various ways, including nutrition, mechanics, pharmaceuticals, and psychology. We will also learn meal planning guidelines for athletes, including the MyPlate guidelines for easy, moderate, and hard training days, to ensure optimized nutrition and performance.
