Nutrition Classes for Preteens

Multi Day Classes

In multi-day class, students will meet with the teacher multiple day(s) per week at a scheduled time over video chat. This is great for students for interacting with diverse classmates from other states and countries. Our Multi-Day Classes are usually 5-12 weeks long.

Nutrition for Sport and Athletic Performance for Preteens

Nutrition and Physical Activity for Preteens

In this course, students will learn the six basic classes of nutrition and how they play a role in maintaining health. learn about vigorous and moderate exercises, and be able to read nutritional labels on foods.

Introduction to Food Science for Preteens (With Labs)

Why is it important that you eat your vegetables? How does mold grow on bread? In this course, students will take on the role of food scientists and learn about our foods and the technology used in manufacturing and preserving food.

Flexible Schedule Classes

In a Flexible Schedule course, there are no live video chats. The course content is uploaded to the classroom forum. Students are able to interact with the teacher and other students enrolled in the classroom forum. This is great if your student prefers independent pacing or is uncomfortable with live video chat. Our flexible classes usually are 4-12 weeks long.

Introduction to Nutrition for Preteens will delve into the basic food groups, how our bodies digest and use food, the importance of water and fiber in our diet, food labels, GMOs and the processing of food.

Nutrition for Sport and Athletic Performance for Preteens

In this course, we will be discussing common misconceptions about sports nutrition, nutrient timings, food groups, and healthy eating

Living Healthy: The Importance of Hygiene, Nutrition, and Fitness

Living Healthy is divided into 3 units of 4 weeks; Personal Hygiene, Nutrition, and Fitness. Every week your student will complete their health lesson using the links to videos, handouts, quizzes, self-assessments and more.

Introduction to Food Science for Preteens (With Labs)

Cooking Classes

Preteens will learn where specific ingredients come from, follow a recipe and utilize new techniques, and work to prepare a favorite meal. We teach how to mix and measure, properly use a knife, and how to safely use appliances. Participants will receive take-home recipes to recreate the meal and hone their new cooking skills. Learners can earn their Girl Scouts: Brownie Snacks Badge or Juniors Simple Meal Plan with HKNA.   

Healthy Snacking for Preteens

In this 3 week course, learners investigate healthy snack foods by discovering what good snacks consist of and how healthy snacking can improve health.

Let's Learn About Food for Preteens

In this ongoing class, students will learn one food from the 5 food groups (fruits, dairy, meats, vegetables, nuts/seeds) and be able to make a healthy and delicious recipe with the teacher.

Summer Camp

Summer camps are a great way for your eager student to learn about nutrition during the summer. Students will meet with the teacher multiple days per week at a scheduled time over video chat. Summer camps are usually condensed weeks to allow for greater flexibility with your student’s summer schedule. 

Introduction to Nutrition for Preteens

Introduction to Nutrition for Preteens is a 2 week long (4x per week) instead of our normal 7 week long session class. This class diiscuss topics such as food labels, food processing, how our bodies digest and use food and so much more. Next class starts July 6th, 2021.
